Constantly lose devices and entities

Hello, I’m still new to Home Assistant, but I’m getting increasingly frustrated. I keep losing included devices or entities.

For example, at noon today, I included a new Z-Wave switch. I was able to switch the device. This evening, I wanted to integrate it into a script. However, it was gone. It was also missing from the Z-Wave device overview. So, I excluded it again, and Home Assistant showed me a successful exclusion with a previously invisible node.

The re-inclusion then worked.

I then wanted to use it in the script, but in the meantime, other entities that had previously all worked had disappeared. In the visual editor, these entities were no longer listed with the device name but with the ID number. However, they were no longer responsive.

Are you familiar with this problem? What is happening here?

My HA runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro - Zigbee 3.0 & Z-Wave 800 Series USB Adapter. Can this adapter be the problem.

And today I lost all my battery-powered devices. I’m really frustrated. Two weeks of work went to waste. And it can’t be a range problem. I have a lot od installed devices.

And I got the following error: Setup error, retrying

What does it mean

I’m using the Hubitat with THR integration. Zero issues with zwave or zigbee devices thru Hubitat. Also Hubitat is pretty on top of new device integration. @bill has been busy with other projects and so THR has been fairly static.

I second that. Use THR for AV equipment. Use another product like Hubitat, Home Assistant, Homeseer, or similar for home automation and ZWave interfacing.

Hi SteMo,
I have a VeraPlus and Hubitat for my Z-Wave System and both works fine with THR.
Just to make sure I understand your system correctly:
You have integrated your Z-Wave system (Aeotec) into Home Assistant and added it to THR via the Home Assistant plugin?

Get sure the Z-Wave Gateway has a static IP, otherwise HA can not find the devices when your router assigns a new IP address for the Z-Wave dongle (for example when the Pi restart).

I recommend a Hubitat controller—it’s not really expensive and can control Zigbee and WiFi devices in addition to Z-Wave. Integration into THR is very easy and well described.
