Newbie Questions - Replacing iRule

Howdy. I’ve been creeping for a while as part of research for replacing my iRule setup, which was built by an integrator but I made quite a few changes over the years including buttons, layout and JSON commands for Kodi.

I’m hoping someone can direct me to key threads / tutorials for starting from scratch:

1 - iRule sends network commands directly to Kodi via wifi, Sony AVR, BD and TV via GC WF2IR

2 - Separate pages for
a - Menu (power sequence and AVR input for b and c below)
b - Watch Kodi (Kodi controls and shortcuts, AVR volume)
c - Watch BD (powers on AVR+BD, BD transport and navigation, AVR volume)
d - AVR controls (switch inputs, surround mode, AM/FM/tuning)
e - Devices (power toggles for all, navigation controls for TV)

I plan to create for Android tablet and possibly mini-versions for iPhones.

I picked HR over DemoPad because of the active user forum and potential cost savings.

I had a pretty good handle on iRule so I’m really hoping to avoid dead-end searches, and obviously learn from others’ mistakes / wisdom.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it’s all possible (more or less)
Here come some from iRule and I think everyone including me thinks HR is better.
Here you will find good tutorials to get you started.

If you get stuck, you can always ask here in the forum.

I recommend for starting out by using the app on your mobile (android/apple) and discover as many devices possible that are officially supported. In the app settings, backup your project, bring it over to a windows machine and open it in the The Home Remote Designer. From there, start building test pages and getting the remainder of your devices integrated.

Thanks for the replies - I’m going to do a proof-of-concept by creating buttons to test specific commands to each device (IR to Sonys via GC iTach, JSON to Kodi via WiFi) before fully diving in with layouts and multiple screens.

I’ll give an update on how that goes.
