Possible? Button to control Android OS functions like a Cast button

Hi

Is it possible to have buttons in Home Remote that control certain aspects of the Android OS ?

I am thinking of a Cast button in HR that would bring up the Android Cast menu or buttons to control the Android devices volume level.

It is not.

I’m not aware of any function that can be called to open the Android Cast menu.

It is possible for developers to control the device volume though. You could submit a feature request for that if you want.

I was just wondering what buttons might be possible to control somethings of the Android OS.

A Cast button was the one I would of liked to have.

I don’t know much about tasker but if you can interact with it via http or other method you may be able to work something out. I think there is an api as well.

Yes I use Tasker. I’ll have a think about it.

Maybe Tasker can open the Android Cast menu and maybe some way in Home Remote to have a button run a Tasker task?

I did set something up today with Tasker and a wall mounted tablet…

Using an app called Motion Detector, I created a Tasker profile that monitors for an intent sent from that app upon motion detection on the tablets front camera.

And a Tasker task that wakes the tablet and launches / displays Home Remote.

So you just have to stand in front of the tablet and it wakes.

It doesn’t seem possible with Tasker or the plugins AutoCast or CastTask to simply launch the Cast menu on the Android device.

Only other way would be to use AutoInput and create a macro to open it.

So looks like its not possible, I give up for now.
