Securty of HomeRemote

I just was pointed to HomeRemote by a forum. The product looks quite remarkable, especially coming from a private developer. I would love to start using it, but before I do I have a question.

Because HomeRemote is meant to interface with a variety of Smart Home devices, I’m quite concerned about security protocols. Is there a white paper anywhere that talks about the security of this system? For instance:

  • What information is saved in the cloud vs on the local device?
  • What processing is done in the cloud?
  • How are credentials to Nest, Arlo, SmartThings, Hue, etc protected?
  • Has the system gone through any cybersecurity reviews?

Thanks!

Home Remote Designer and the mobile and PC app alone is not dependent on the cloud. It resides within your local network and your mobile device and or personal computer. However home remote can interface with devices that may be dependent on the cloud and the security would be dependent on those devices security protocols. I do not believe passwords sent via Home Remote are subject to any encryption so the security would be dependent on the strength of your wireless network.
